Training Wheels for ages 2-5
|

Al Galgalim (Hebrew for "on wheels") is a Jewish family education program created by Hadassah that introduces families to the joys of celebrating Shabbat and the Jewish holidays in a hands-on, pressure-free, friendly environment. Parents (or grandparents) become partners with their children (or grandchildren) in discovering meaning in the rituals. Each session is led by a trained Hadassah facilitator and runs 1.5 - 2 hours, one Sunday morning a month, and contains arts and crafts, music, introductions to Hebrew language, parenting discussions, and Hadassah-related information geared towards the specific topic or holiday. Holidays covered include Rosh Hashanah, Sukkot, Hanukkah, Tu B’Shvat, Purim, Passover, Israel Independence Day, and Shavuot. We will also discuss tzedakah and mitzvot. |
The Training Wheels class is for families with children between the ages of 2 and 5 while the Wheeling On class is for families with children in kindergarten through 2nd grade. Classes are sub-divided by age-range, depending on overall enrollment, to maintain a small class size. Volunteers to help with the program are needed. This is a very rewarding volunteer position. No prior experience is necessary, just a love of Judaism and enthusiasm for the job. For more information contact trainingwheels@hadassahaction.org
- To participate, you must be a current Hadassah member.
Annual membership is $36. Life membership is $360. - Tuition for the 2010-2011 year is $120 for a child and the parents (or grandparents).
There is a 10% sibling discount if you are enrolling a second child in the same or another class. - Classes are held in Palo Alto.
- The exact schedule of classes will be e-mailed prior to the first class. The schedule takes into account holidays, and therefore the class meets approximately once a month; however, the classes do not always meet on the same Sunday of each month.
